Frequently asked questions MGEL Logement
Do I need a guarantor to access housing?
A guarantor is a natural person who undertakes to pay the rent in the event of non-payment by the tenant. The presence of a guarantor is required to apply for housing in our residences.
MGEL Logement also accepts Action Logement’s Visale guarantee, a free scheme that replaces the physical guarantor.

Can I visit the residence before signing the lease?
Each of our residences features photos of our homes. Some residences even feature 360° virtual tours. For a physical visit, contact our teams via the contact form – we’ll do our utmost to organize a visit according to the availability of our regional teams.
My child is still part of my tax household. Does this change anything for my APL?
Yes, if your child is part of your tax household, his or her APL may be reduced, as your income is included in the calculation. We recommend that you run two simulations on caf.fr one in ‘attached’ mode and one in ‘detached’ mode, then compare the additional APL savings with any tax benefits of attachment (tax share). In most cases, secondment is more advantageous from the 2nd year of study onwards.
